Why Land Measurements Are Complicated
India does not have one Bigha. It has dozens. A Bigha in Uttar Pradesh equals 27,000 square feet. In West Bengal, the same word means 14,400 square feet. In Rajasthan, the Kuccha Bigha and Pucca Bigha are different sizes entirely. Individual districts — in some cases individual tehsils — have kept their own local customs for generations.
We cover the most widely accepted standard for each state. But land records created in a rural registry office decades ago may use a different local value. If you are buying land, selling land, or resolving a boundary dispute, do not rely solely on our calculator. Check with the local Patwari, your state land revenue portal, or a registered property valuer.

Gold prices change every hour. Any rupee figures in our articles are used only to illustrate how unit conversions work — they are not live quotes. Before buying, selling, or pledging gold, check the current rate with an IBJA-recognised jeweller or an official commodity exchange. Our weight converters are accurate for units, but rupee values shown in examples are not real-time prices.

Our cement, brick, and CFT calculators give ballpark figures based on standard CPWD norms. Actual material consumption varies with mason skill, quality of aggregate, site conditions, and structural design. Treat our figures as starting estimates. Your contractor or structural engineer should finalise the calculation before you order materials.
We Fix Errors
If you spot something wrong — a conversion factor that does not match an official gazette notification, a table with an outdated value, a calculator giving incorrect results — tell us through the Contact Us page. Include the official source or reference number if you have it. We investigate every report and update the site when we confirm an error.
